The Role:

Reporting to the Technical and Innovation Director, The Group Technical Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of Quality, Food Safety & Legality for three factories. They will drive continuous improvement in site standards by leading the team of Quality managers and advising the site Operations and Engineering teams in technical matters, identify issues, problem solve and ensure root cause is identified and corrective and preventative actions are taken.

Duties include:

Provide leadership to the Quality team and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards within the Technical department and across the sites.
Take an active role on the Site Leadership Team, offering expertise on Quality and Food Safety matters, while also supporting initiatives related to Productivity, Safety, and Sustainability within the plant. You may occasionally deputize for the Technical Director as needed.
Represent the company in customer meetings and effectively communicate the technical strategy.
Manage the budget for the Technical department, ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place and identifying cost-saving opportunities where possible.
Promote and implement the Companys Total Quality process, incorporating a Total Quality approach across all responsibilities.
Oversee the organisational development of the Technical Team, fostering growth and proficiency within the department.
Conduct horizon scanning and future risk evaluations to inform the development of site HACCP plans, company standards, and corporate risk registers.
Identify areas for continual improvement and innovation in compliance and overall manufacturing capability.
Cultivate strategic relationships with external stakeholders such as FSA, EHO, Campden, and others.
The Person:

Previous experience in a senior technical role within the food manufacturing, retail, or food service industry.
Demonstrated experience in people management.
Proficiency in HACCP and Pest Control practices.
Competence in budget management.
Strong systematic problem-solving skills.
Ability to influence and address challenges effectively.
Proficient in managing customer relationships and engagement with enforcement authorities.
