Senior Mechanical Estimator
About Our Client: Our client is a leading company specialising in the design and construction of data centres across the Nordic region and Europe. Renowned for their commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence, they deliver state-of-the-art solutions that meet the evolving demands of the digital world. As they continue to expand their presence, they are looking for a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join their dynamic team in Dublin.
Role Overview: The Senior Mechanical Estimator will play a key role in managing the preparation of detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems and installations across data centre projects. The role demands a thorough understanding of mechanical systems, proficiency in cost estimation, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams to create competitive bids. Occasional travel to project sites across the Nordic region and Europe will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and other related services on large-scale data centre projects.
Bid Support: Collaborate with project management, engineering, and design teams to develop cost-effective and competitive bids tailored to client specifications.
Scope Review: Analyse project documents, plans, and specifications to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and risks, ensuring all estimates are robust and reliable.
Vendor Management: Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to collect quotes, negotiate terms, and ensure the most accurate and up-to-date estimates are provided.
Project Collaboration: Work closely with internal project teams to ensure a seamless project delivery from bid stage through to final implementation, maintaining close oversight of costs throughout.
Cost Reporting: Track and report on project costs, providing regular updates to senior management, and delivering accurate financial analysis and insights.
Travel: Occasional travel may be required to data centre project sites in the Nordic region and across Europe to support project requirements and liaise with local teams.
Qualifications and Experience:
Experience: At least 5 years’ experience in mechanical estimating, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in data centre or large-scale construction projects.
Skills: In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, advanced cost estimation techniques, and experience with relevant estimating software. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
Education: A degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
Authorisation: Candidates must have Irish working authorisation and be available to work on-site in Dublin five days per week in their new HQ.
