Description

Definition:
The person involved in the supervision and coordination of site personnel and subcontractors, the reporting of all relevant site activities, and ensuring the quality of the finished works.

Responsibilities:
• Read and understand the company's safety statement and ensure that it is brought to the notice of operatives under your control. Carry out all work in accordance with its requirements.
• Know the requirements of the HSE/HSA Legislation and other relevant legislation and ensure that they are observed on-site.
• Ensure works are being planned and carried out in a safe manner.
• Review and briefing of RAMS.
• Incorporate safety instructions in routine orders and see that they are obeyed.
• Do not allow operatives to take unnecessary risks.
• Feed into and help prepare RAMS with the site agents/project managers—selecting the correct construction methodology.
• Ensure that new employees, particularly apprentices and young people, are inducted, made aware of the site rules and shown the correct method of working and all safety precautions.
• Ensure that young employees (under 18 years) do not drive any item of plant. Nor should they operate any type of tool or equipment except under direct supervision.
• Commend operatives who, by action or initiative, eliminate hazards.
• Do not allow "horseplay" or dangerous practical jokes, and reprimand those who consistently fail to consider their own safety or that of others around them.
• Report immediately any defects of plant or equipment.
• Report any accident, however minor, to supervision immediately
• Set a personal example by wearing protective clothing and by carrying out your own work in a safe manner.
• Look for and suggest ways of eliminating hazards. Bring to the notice of supervision all improvements or additions to the safety statement that you feel should be made.
• Should the Site Engineer be absent for any reason, the Site Supervisor will assume this temporary role with regard to health and safety and environmental issues should they arise.
• Need to be familiar with the companies' QA and environmental management systems.
• Need to be cognizant of the cost on the contract at all times.
• Need to be familiar with implications that any variation or change orders will have on the program and costs.
• Need to be familiar with the program and what implication any overrun will have in relation to costs and manpower.

Requirements:
• 5 years of relevant construction experience and performance on similar projects and a commitment to carry out the project safely.

• Full Clean Irish/EU Driving License
• Authorised to work in Ireland, i.e., holds a stamp 4 visa or critical skills
