Perform effective Electrical and Mechanical diagnostics and repairs to high-speed plant, machinery, handling and packaging equipment, pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems, effecting timely repairs and immediate action on breakdowns.
Work off your own initiative independently and with other maintenance staff to identify hazards, control faults or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged equipment safely and efficiently.
Prioritise reactive tasks in order of urgency to reduce downtime and impact on production.
Technical support for plant facilities and services including electrical systems, compressed air, refrigeration, heat recovery, water treatment and effluent plant.
Be proactive by routinely inspecting equipment, cabling panels etc. to ensure they are up to standard and familiarising yourself with new machinery and equipment.
Assist design and installation of electrical and control systems, upgrading and automation of plant and facilities.
Carry out scheduled electrical routine maintenance and testing, .
Ensure that preventative maintenance remains a priority to assist in the continuation of a demanding production schedule and ensuring the plant is maintained to the highest standard both inside and outside of normal hours as required.
Open to new ideas/work practices to support Production Team in achieving targets and reducing down time by monitoring line and machine performance, intervene as soon as any deterioration in performance occurs to maintain or increase output.
Assist with equipment upgrades from external contractors and Management to ensure all new equipment is commissioned to the agreed time frame.
Keep clean any areas in which you are working, including any transit areas to and from the workshop, including the workshop and stores, good housekeeping.
Co-operate and participate fully in training and development in cross-skilling and other job-related competencies
Ensure that all electrical and mechanical activity conforms to national standard and promotes a safe and healthy working environment.
Observe all on site and legislative rules and regulations in terms of health and safety, food safety and environmental.
Essential Skills and Experience
Experienced Trade Qualified Electrician with strong electrical/electronic bias and mechanical knowledge or
Time served electrical apprenticeship in a high volume, automated manufacturing environment, ideally food/beverage with 2-3yrs minimum experience.
Must be confident to work from and produce electrical drawings.
Must have proven competence with; electrical switchgear, backup generator, UPS, ELV control, motors, pumps, inverters, HMI and Fire alarm systems.
Practical knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Working knowledge of industrial machinery an advantage
PLC experience an advantage
Confident on Computer and mobile app control programs
Excellent English verbal and written communication
