We are recruiting for a Network Manager to manage the Macra Agricultural Skillnet department.

The successful candidate for this role will be able to work independently and possess an entrepreneurial approach to his/her work. Developing and managing both internal and external relationships is also an essential part of the role. He/she will also possess the experience and presence to represent Macra Agricultural Skillnet amongst influential audiences and at events and meetings. Experience of online marketing and the harnessing of social media generally are vital for successful execution of the role.

Main Responsibilities of the job

A very exciting role for an ambitious Network Manager who will be responsible for the continued expansion, management and development of the Macra Agricultural Skillnet. The training network is an integral part of supports for the agricultural industry and provides relevant, current and enterprise led training for young farmers.

This role includes the full operational, administration and financial management of the Macra Agricultural Skillnet; managing a match-funded programme with corresponding KPI’s and targets.

The Network Manager will work closely with Communications team driving promotion of the Skillnet Programme, the Steering Group and member companies and external stakeholders.

Job Description and Person Specification

The successful candidate will be required:

To coordinate the planning & delivery of the Macra Agricultural Skillnet Programme.

Ongoing needs analysis for the industry to form the basis for the Network’s programme
Use the understanding of learning and the industry to design and deliver high quality training courses & events.
Source and work with providers to ensure the highest quality training engaging a wide range of learning resources and techniques.
Coordinate logistics for training delivery; including training providers, venues, refreshments and training materials.
Organise non-formal or networking events to promote the network activity.
Ensure evaluation & improvement of all programmes is undertaken at the relevant levels.
To develop the network to serve the needs of young farmers and the contracting organization.

Work with the promoter (CEO) and board of Macra na Feirme, the network steering group, Skillnet Ireland and other stakeholders to further the strategic development of the network.
Provide new and specific skills to the sector.
Increase enterprise participation in Skillnet activity.
To monitor in conjunction with CEO, Head of Advocacy, Policy & Membership Development the training offering of the organization to its members and target audience.

Prepare the applications to Skillnet Ireland to reflect the training need.
Partake in Industry initiatives and upskilling to ensure an awareness of non-network provision and potential developments.
To manage the Skillnet team and work with the entire staff team to promote and develop the membership offering at all levels.

All levels of People Management of the Skillnet Administration team member
Ensure adequate publicity both internally and externally for network activity.
Recruitment of trainees and companies to support training activity.
Promote extra benefits to associate members, current & potential.
To carry out the tasks of the Network Manger according to the Skillnet Ireland Network Manager Profile.

The adherence to Skillnet Ireland Operating Guidelines
Managing Operational & Financial Risks
Manage the networks budget and ratios
Delivering on KPI’s to include trainee and member company targets
Monitor & Review the Networks Cash Matching Strategy
Work with other departments to ensure all financial reports and tasks are carried out as required
Budgeting, managing income and expenditure, funding applications and procurement
Monitor work of other networks and associated employees or contractors where relevant
Updating of Sonrai (the Skillnet Ireland recording system)
The protection of the personal data of all stakeholders obtained by the Network
General duties

General administration and dealing with enquiries, requests and ad-hoc queries or opportunities
Assisting in the planning and implementation of other Skillnet activities, as assigned
Delivering all activities on time

Essential Qualifications

5+ years proven track record in the Agriculture Sector
Bachelor’s degree in an Agri related discipline, business or Learning and Development, or relevant experience supplemented with an equivalent qualification.
A passion for farming.
Experience of organising training courses/events (online/remote and in-person).
Knowledge of the range of roles and skills required within the Agricultural industry.
An understanding of the various stakeholders within the Agricultural sector.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
An excellent team worker with a strong sense of autonomy and the ability to work on own initiative.
A forward thinker, ideas generator and solution driven.
A demonstrated commitment to equality and diversity issues.
The capability to interface confidently with the Network Director, Administrator, Trainees, and other stakeholders is a key element of the role.
An ability to prioritise tasks and projects and learn in a dynamic environment.
Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity
Excellent people management and relationship management skills
Experience of working with Senior Management and at Board level
Full clean driving license

Terms and Conditions of Employment

Location: Irish Farm Centre, Bluebell, Dublin 12 (remotely at present).

Salary: Subject to experience.

Contract: Macra na Feirme is initially offering a permanent contract subject to completion of a successful probationary review.

Annual Leave: 25 working days exclusive of public holidays (pro-rata).

Travel & Subsistence: Travel & subsistence will be paid at public sector rates.

Probation: A probationary period of six months will apply.

Pension: Macra na Feirme operates a defined contribution group pension scheme and a PRSA. Employees have access to the scheme on successful completion of their six month probationary period.

Training & Development: Macra na Feirme provides regular opportunities for training, development and upskilling
