Performs advanced engineering/scientific analysis with minimal direction and supervision. Beginning to demonstrate creativity and ingenuity in providing technical solutions. Works directly with EPRI staff and high interaction with members and industry.
Conducts technical searches and analyzes information in support of the project team.
Conducts independent research and begins to manage small, less complex projects

Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
4-5 years of engineering experience or comparable work/educational experience required.
Good verbal and written communication skills
Required some supervision and guidance to recognize strategic issues and build collaborative projects
Responsible for the success of individual projects
Works closely with contractors or staff to complete project research
May participate in multiple projects
May present research results to advisors or technical staff/members
Starting to develop technical depth in 1-2 areas

Additional Job Information:
The ideal candidate has a strong background in science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics and technical exposure to wind energy and wind turbine mechanical or electro-mechanical modeling. Previous experience conducting research or technical consultancy is appreciated.
This position will provide support to EPRI Europe team in compiling and analyzing wind turbine performance, maintenance and grid events data from large-scale renewable energy facilities and develop state-of-the-art models, data analytics and reliability techniques. Additional activities include O&M cost modeling and LCOE calculations.
General responsibilities include:
Develop advanced physics-based mechanical component degradation models and provide written and visual results to technical staff
Coordinate data transfer from numerous sources by interfacing with members/clients at multiple utilities
Format data to be compatible with existing database constructs
Related wind power research activity that the candidate may become engage with includes wind turbine control modeling for grid services, detecting and improving production shortfalls, developing condition-based maintenance strategies through health monitoring of streaming data sources.
The employee will have the opportunity to interact and learn from technical subject matter experts on the Renewable Generation team (wind, solar, hydro, economics and technology) and the wider EPRI Europe team.
This is a fixed term position with potential for conversion into a permanent position, at later date.
